I have a 957.

Can anyone tell me what this new icon means ? It looks like a checkmark superimposed on an envelope, and it has a number to its left.

It's just like the envelope icon that shows how many unread messages there are, except there's a checkmark superimposed over the envelope.

The checkmark envelope sits above the line on the home screen, just below the envelope icon and comes & goes in accordance with a behaviour pattern I am unable to discern ...

Please see picture below. I'm curious about the lower icon.

What BB/carrier are you using? I haven't noticed a checkmark like your description on my 7520. a screenshot would be helpful.
