Default Non removal of user

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, Have a user that "crushed" the PTT button on his 7510 blackberry. We had another 7510 laying around so we gave him that one. I went to remove the user from the (4.0) BES, typically when I do this, after removing the user I close the BBmanager and reopen to confirm the removal. To my surprise the user still exists. Can't get rid of him! Testing further, I removed another user, no problem user is gone. I re-added the second user and re-activated the user, no problem. So I guess I need to ask what could possibly be unique about a user or his blackberry that would make it seemingly impossible to remove him from the BES?

Make sure there's no corruption in his account on the exchange/gw/notes system. Make sure his database entry isn't corrupted or locked.

Why not just reactivate a new device on the same account? I've done this many times and it's worked like a charm.

I tried activating the new device on the users account but it throws an error and says to see the sytem administrator (me).

I just had this. Run 'handheldcleanup -u' from the c:\program files\research in motion\blackberry enterprise server\utility directory about three times.

Okay when I run the handheldcleanup utility, do I first have to remove the user from Exchange? I've tried it without removing him from exchange to no avail. I've read in this forum that removing the user from exchange before removing him from the besserver is problomatic.

If it's BES 4.0 then I'd suggest that you make sure the SQL Agent is started. This is not to be confused with the SQL Service. Once this is done then manually run the Jobs for the BESMgmt Database.
