Newbie Here - had the phone a few months
Today I have no ring on calls, no volume on alarm
Never happened before ... Yes, i know how to click on that little speaker >> it is on Normal (Active)

Have you tried the "battery pull" magic yet? With your pearl on, remove the batter and put it back on after few secs.

have been fiddlin' around and a quick message popped in and out

"unable to allocate for audio" ... or something very similar

will do the pull now and see ...

That was a quick solution to your problem. I suspect you were running out of memory (especially with the message "unable to allocate for audio") on your phone when this happened. It is always a good habit to keep checking the free memory Options->Status->File Free and make sure that it is at least > 10-12 MB for best usage of your phone.
