Modern Blackberries use USB for wired syncing. Data transfer over USB requires a bus master (the PC in most cases). The Blackberry will not provide the bus master so you will need a device to perform that function. Perhaps this could be built into your adapter cable.
True syncing is a fairly complex process moderated by the Desktop Manager, however Blackberries with SDCards will allow the card to appear on the bus as a USB Flash Drive so data could be written to the SDCard as a file.
