I'd like to manufacture a data syncing cable that can connect to my blood glucose meter and upload the results from the meter.
I'm interested in knowing blackberry's terms of service regarding syncing with third party hardware...Can it be done? Will I need Blackberry's approval? Will my manufacturer/software developer need to know certain specifics that I can obtain without Blackberry's permission?

Modern Blackberries use USB for wired syncing. Data transfer over USB requires a bus master (the PC in most cases). The Blackberry will not provide the bus master so you will need a device to perform that function. Perhaps this could be built into your adapter cable.

True syncing is a fairly complex process moderated by the Desktop Manager, however Blackberries with SDCards will allow the card to appear on the bus as a USB Flash Drive so data could be written to the SDCard as a file.
