This will stop the china mobile customer service icons from being loaded.
Thanks for figuring that out. China Mobile has a bit of a history doing this with firmwares on many devices, not surprised to see it crop up in the BlackBerry world as well.

That would explain why some get the icons and some don't. I don't even edit my blackberry.alx file anymore. I just remove everything I don't want from the java folder. I only use TMo zen theme so I don't need to edit the alx to get others. Thanks for the info and I'll post it in my thread.

Woot!

Just did and worked for me.

I swear I looked at all the cod files and never saw anything odd. Don't hire me to as a security guard.

Wirelessly posted

I still don't know what china mobile icons people are talking. The only thing I edit is the platform alx to get rid of ptt.

I loaded it on my BB and noticed right away that it's UI interaction is smooth. The only problem I'm noticing is weird random reboots while changing options in the (video) camera settings. Either set of options doesn't matter which one it reboots. No specific option either.

Other than that I think its a great release. I guess that's what I get for liking to be on the bleeding edge!

All I did was delete the vendor.alx file and I was good to go. I have noticed that a second soft reset after the entire restore is done is beneficial. Also, with T-mobile, I had to go back into my TCP settings and re-add my APN login info. The upgrade had cleared it out. Also, TwitterBerry, which I had upgraded to version 0.7, had to be downgraded to 0.6 and then upgraded again - apparently the 0.7 beta only works if you install it as a replacement upgrade to 0.6.

It seems to be pretty stable and fast. I've added some new apps I didn't have on there before, like BerryStore, BeamReader (NOT free, time-limited beta), TV Guide Mobile, MidpSSH, and I put Documents to Go back in. So far everything seems to be working fine.

I was really surprised how much I liked the default T-mobile Zen theme. I used to be a Today Plus fan, but this one won me over.

This version (.123) is newer than (.108) for the 8310 but it is not an official release yet. It is still an unreleased beta.

Upgraded yesterday to .93. Seems to running fine. It was a bit slow moving the trackball in the beginning but it picked up.

I noticed that when I hold the up volume button it skips to the next track on the media player. I did not notice this on the 4.2.2 release.

I believe this is a new feature for all 4.5 versions.

I put this on my 8310 yesterday. I also noticed that the upgrade took a little longer than normal on my BB. I got about 2MB more free space than on .81 and so far it seems to work ok. I did get a yellowpages.com icon after the upgrade. The only thing I do not like about any 4.5 release is the ringtone volume still seems very low compared to 4.2. I have an 8300 that has 4.2 and it rings LOUD compared to my 8310.

The yellowpages icon is a service book that has been recently pushed by at&t: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...om-mobile.html

Hey, thanks for the support Jason Mark! You were right! took me < 1 min. to find it.

I did a clean install. deleted too many themes and got a NONE for theme (BB looked UGLY!) and the L theme would not load, only theme I wanted. Since it was so late re-installed and added all themes, to delete them later. It's been running very nice at around 16 mem with all themes on.

Early today I had 5 or 6 applications opened and running and out of curiosity I checked the ram. It was down to 6 and performance seemed just as good! I never would have noticed it was so low based on performance alone, I think this may be an improvement over prior versions.

Join the crowd! The reboots started for me in .81 and continued in .93. I finally went back to .69 and just like before no reboot issues. It seems to only effect 8120s.

BlackBerry Messenger is also messed up. It keeps thinking you have switched to a new device when you reboot unless you disable content protection... arrrggg.

Well on my 8310 running .93, I have no problems when pressing the * or # keys from the home screen.

Yep, this has been a problem with all of the betas when content pro is enabled, along with losing contacts. You'd figure it would be fixed by now. Also Troy, my wife hasn't had any reboots on the past few betas. I believe it's simply device specific.
