I called a local BB and they are accepting the preorder which gurantees you one on launch day. You must set an appointment to be guranteed. I got my preorder, as it the 50 is refundable. Also, I called VZW, they stated they would call me since I'm now on the VIP list the day before the event. VZW store rep, theyre expecting the 23rd, there was no mention of the 16th. BB said between the 16th-23rd.

So yeah, a launch on a sunday.

Call me sceptical, but if you buy the launch date why didn't they shoot you a price? Seeing as how the Bold dropped in price from $399-100 rebate at ATT stores down to $199 the same day, then was seen for $150 (and as low as $99 for new customers) the next day I don't think I'd be plunking my coin down just yet on an unreleased phone.

I'd say go for it. I'm on a BES though. So I have to wait to receive from the home office. They have no problem with deploying the Storm, so I'll get one soon after launch I hope.

Just came from my local Verizon Corporate owned store. The first CSR I encountered upon walking in the door told me it would be on 11/23. I asked if they had a reserve list and she directed me to another person, who MAY have been a store manager. He said there is no date set as of yet (hmmmm....strange that the first person said 11/23) but that I could get on the "5 star list". He took my information and said that he would call me when he had a date, but that this was NOT a list for a guaranteed phone. It was simply a notification of when they would be in the store. They would still be sold on a first come-first served basis.

My husband, who is not a crackberry addict, laughed and sarcastically said something about coming by that morning to see everyone in their lawn chairs lined up waiting, and the manager said "I wouldn't be surprised. This is going to be HUGE for Verizon." Guess I'll be getting up rather early that morning.

I went to Best Buy and they stated that they would not be taking deposits. They also incorrectly told me that I was NOT eligible for the upgrade when I knew I was. The local VZW store said to call them on the evening of the 15th

Yesterday, I went to a Best Buy in Indianapolis and they knew all about the pre-order deposit. Officially wrote me up on the deposit paper work and told me tentative date was the 16th but that was not set in stone. Told me I would get a call for an appointment to setup the phone the day after the stock arrived at the store.

Can you pre-order over the phone and if you are eligible for an upgrade can you do it through Best Buy or do you have to go to a Verizon store to upgrade?

I think the issue was that Best Buy in my area did not want to take a deposit if they could not guarantee the phone. The VZW person at VZW store stated that I should contact him on the evening of the 15th.

That is a judgmental call. Both places will have the phone. I personally felt more comfortable going to a carrier store because they seemed more familiar with the plans and policies and would release the phone to me where the Best Buy told me erroneously that I wasn't eligible

Verizon is sending out a blast email that says 11.21.08 is the release date. Its $249.99 and you get a $50 rebate for a $199 price.

How much will it be retail?? I got the email, and even called my Verizon store and the girl didn't know how much it would be. She was "guessing" around 400 since the phone was pricing at 199/249.

Any real answer to this?
