Default Gmail syncing

Please Login to Remove!

So I set up my Gmail via the setup tool. Now when I receive and delete an e-mail on my Storm, it's reflected online. However, if I delete something online, it's not reflected on the Storm. Also, if I read something on my Storm, it's not reflected online.

Anyone know how to get the 2 perfectly in sync? I use this on my iPod Touch and it works flawlessly.

I'm taking a guess here but if you go online to verizons BIS site and log in you should edit the address and check the "sync deleted items between my mailbox and my device". Mine is not checked since I do like having a back up on my mailbox.

i checked that part during setup. i'm not having an issue w/ that, since when I delete an e-mail on the Storm, it shows up as deleted online as well (just not the other way around)

I find using Gmail App works better and just simpler because I can go into different folders. The only problem is it's not a default email client when I click on an email address. DOes anyone know how to set this up?

i'm finding that my gmail account is hardly reliable lately. Some messages are pushed through almost immediately, however others takes more than 15 minutes and some never make it. this shouldn't be a device related issue, but I'm finding that gmail is not reliable...

i think if you leave it open, however, it drains the battery faster (which is already a problem w/out extra apps draining the battery)

i ended up calling verizon tech support and getting my BIS reset. it seems to be syncing properly now. also, there's an "Advanced" option when you go into your e-mail setup, where you can make sure it's set to imap.gmail.com

When using the Verizon Storm/9530 to setup a Gmail account, it sets it up as Pop...

If you want as IMAP, you have to do things a little different...

After making sure Gmail is set with IMAP enabled in your Gmail settings,
  1. On the blackberry, Select the Email Settings Icon and sign in.
  2. Select the ADD button.
  3. do NOT select Gmail. Instead, select OTHER.
  4. in the Email Address.. fill in a bogus email address (like [email address])
  5. in the Password field, fill in anything for a password
  6. Click Next.
  7. You'll see a screen that says 'We were unable to configure..." Select I will provide the settings to add this email account, then Next.
  8. Select Personal Email, then Next.
  9. In the 'Email Address:' field, enter your full email address (including '@gmail.com').
  10. In the 'User Name:' Field, enter the portion of your email address before the "@" (i.e. don't include the @gmail.com)
  11. Then enter your password in the 'Password:' field.
  12. In the 'Email server:' field, enter 'imap.gmail.com,' then select Next.
    Click Next.
  13. You'll see "processing, please wait..." while it sets things up.
  14. If IMAP access was successfully configured, select OK.
  15. You'll be brought back to the page showing your accounts. Select your Gmail account.
  16. scroll down, Fill in 'your name:' with how you want your name displayed. .
  17. check the box for synchronise deleted items between...
