Exclamation Bad reception!

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my storm and I love it. But the reception sucks. I have a 8800, and the signal is 10dbm stronger than storm. I hope it is an software issue.
Can anybody else confirm this? thanx.

I use the 4.7.0.78 version.

I actually haven't had anything different in the way of reception compared to what I have had before. In the same locations where I used to drop I still do, but otherwise, the service and reception is the same...(better than AT&T in my neck of the woods.)

Try dialing *228. I would go through both upgrade on roaming and then call back and do the upgrade on device.

Dialing *228 only works on Verizon.

It does only work on Verizon.

Do other carriers have ways of upgrading your roaming by OTA? I imagine each one is different, but check and see how that works on your carrier. That might help with the reception

There's a thread on signal strength in this forum. Many users (me included) are experiencing erratic reception with the storm. I too am using 3G and 4.7.0.78 - reception SUCKS. It's massively worse than on the bold.
I usually get 1-2 bars when the bold gets 5. I'm also hoping this is a software issue - the iPhone was displaying similar issues - those could be fixed by a firmware upgrade.

Its definitely a firmware issue, I have a 8830 as a backup and the the signal level are certainly higher than the Storm. I hate the dropped calls in which I've never had with the 8830 or 8330. I can't wait for them to fix it!
