In the Message list, highlight the first/top email by hovering/resting one thumb over it, then take the other thumb and hover it over the last/bottom email.
If you need to select more emails (contigously in the list at the bottom, currently off the screen), you can then lift both thumbs, then with one of them, touch the bottom/last email that is highlighted and drag it up. This exposes the next screen full. Below the last one selected, hover your thumb over it to add it to the selection.
If you intend to go the other direction (up the list) on more than one screen full... make sure the bottom email is the first one hightlighted, then the top one with the other thumb. you can then drag the list down.
For a graphical illustration of this: From the home screen, go to Setup, then Setup Wizard. Next select 'Learn about the touch screen', then 'Selecting Multiple items'.
That's fine for contiguous emails. What ablout non-contiguous ones? I want something like CTRL and click. It would be cool if you could program the side button to be a "select" button. I don't think Storm can do it.

I specifically stated contiguous as that is all you can do. This limitation is not unique to the Storm.
