Default Any chance for an updated CDMA Pearl (candybar not flip)

Please Login to Remove!

Now that I have been using the Storm for a month or so, I really miss the speed I used to type on the SureType keyboard my Pearl. I'm just not as fast on the touch screen SureType keyboard on the Storm. I make too many mistakes. I know there's a CDMA version of the Pearl Flip coming out (which I would consider getting if it was thinner) but I'm wondering if there's an updated version of the CDMA Pearl 8130 coming out soon. Verizon just dropped the price of the 8130 to $20 with a 2 year contract so maybe they're trying to clear them out. I want one with more memory for applications and maybe a better camera.

I believe that ship has sailed. In all likelihood, RIM has discontinued the candy bar design for the Pearl when they modified it to the flip.

I wish this wasn't the case. I love having the features of a blackberry in the really small form factor of the Pearl.

Agreed, the 8100 was my first personal BlackBerry device. I still have it as a backup if my Curve takes a dive.

"Refreshed Pearls" are mentioned here in their roadmap, only a rumor at this point..

Yeah I hope they don't drop the pearl completely in the 8130 style.
Sprint dropped their price too a long while back, that's how I got mine for 29 bucks. I just don't like flips they break too easily.

But at least with a flip you can have some sense of accomplishment when you "snap it shut" after a disturbing phone call. All I could do with the 8100 was stab at the END button real hard!

On Verizon's website both the silver and pink 8130s are available for $19.99 "while supplies last". I think that means we'll either see the Apex a lot sooner than we thought or possibly an updated Pearl candybar but I'm leaning towards the Apex.
