I dun think any wireless device will connect if you dun broadcast your SSID at least once to get it connected for the first time.

Here is what I did:
Enabled SSID to make sure I can connect. Result - Successful.
Went to router and disabled SSID broadcast - after reseting the router to enable the changes, I cannot connect. I have another competitor phone and it has no problem connecting to a WIFI with SSID not set to broadcast.

Hmm.. Strange, becoz I did exactly the same thing and it worked for me. I even go as far as limiting the MAC address of my Bold.

My company does not broadcast the SSID of the internal wireless network. I've been able to connect to it with my Bold & my 8820 from day one. I've done it with any number of Bold releases including the current .247.

I've been involved with wireless since the very start. And I can tell you not all routers/access points are created equal. I would be suspicious of the code on the router. Just because it works with one phone doesn't mean it's the other phone's fault for not connecting. Just means that particular pair can work. I've seen it with laptops, PCMCIA card, PDAs & any number of phones.

If your router is supported, I would encourage you to load the open source dd-wrt code. Never had issues with it connecting.

Find more support in the WiFi forum.

Same here, we've never broadcasted the SSID. I just setup a manual connection and typed in the SSID and Pre-Shared Key, and it connected right away.

Cheap/crappy routers sometimes cause this. I helped a friend out who bought a bargain-basement wireless router on closeout at CompUSA (remember those tossers?). He had all kinds of problems if he varied any of the router's settings.
