Default Can't Restore Address Book

Please Login to Remove!

I had a 9000 Bold, I fully backed it up using Desktop Manager. When I wanted to restore the file onto my 8800, it restores everything but my address book and blackberry messenger contacts. Any ideas why this is? Thank you

Wirelessly posted

Does it error out?

Go into the advanced portion of the backup/restore section and open the .ipd in question and make sure it has entries for Address or Address book all.

Are you on a BES?

Go into your Address Book hit the menu key go to Options do you have multiple address books in there? Go into the Address Book listed and see if Wireless Synch is turned on and check the number of entries.

If there are entries listed in there, then go back to main address book hit the menu key and choose Filter, make sure nothing is checked.

Default Same problem

Switching Adress book from a US to A European 8800

Not on BES

Fatal error when switching to European device

Adress book greyed out

(Databases that are greyed out are for wireless etc etc)

Question:
How can I transfer the adress book if its greyed out?
Why cant I transfer between US and EU devices?

Are you able to sync the address with Outlook/Yahoo/etc?

Go into your address hit book, hit the menu key and choose Options, then go into the default address book, is there an entry for wireless sync? If so turn it off/No

It seems the adress book I have can not be imported to the US version from the EU version phones.
That might also be that the US phone is upgraded to the 4.5 software.

I found an old backup from my EU phone and reverted to that - very strange as I havent had any problems between any blackberries before even the storm could be easily restored/backed up - I guess its a flaw in the 4.2 software on the EU phone.

You know how to force an update - or reset the whole phone so I can upgrade the EU phone to the 4.5 version?
(Both 8800's)

Thank you for your help!

--- some tries later:
Tried blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
Couldnt totally wipe the device to reinstall a new OS - no idea why. It just wipes data and reloads the 4.2 software.

Apparently the Storm upgraded the use adress book data base so it cant be restored to any BB 4.2 version?

Hmm guess this is a relatively new problem reverting to 8800 from a storm haha
and yes I downloaded the 4.5 Telenor swedish version btw.

I now uninstalled all BB software

deleted all vendor.* files

ran Loader.exe

The softwae is now installing (4.5) but fails on reconnecting to device on the 2/4 steps.

Got the 507 error

Trying with the battery in the device this time.

Ok now when I ran the Loader.exe app - it was"updating" my device instead.

This time it worked
