Default Alltel 8330

Please Login to Remove!

I'm thinking about selling my Lg Dare and getting an 8330. Im a verizon user and the only color they have it in is grey. Alltel, however, has it in black - which is much nicer, in my opinion. So that being said I was hopeing you guys could answer a couple of questions for me.

Will it work with Verizon? I'm almost certain it would since they use the same technology.

Would I be able to get Verizon software (os) on it? Or would I have to use alltels?

Thanks in advance.

Dont think it will work even though both are CDMA as the devices will be locked into their respective carriers.

If color is a real big issue you could buy faceplates for your device. It's a bit more involving than changing out the plates on old school nokias, but a lot of people customize it that way.

Nop, Verizon won't allow it but you can get a different housing on line.

If you have the device unlocked, then it will work on any network, just sign up and you're good to go. As for the software, for phone OS you will be able to upgrade to the lastest, so long as you remove the vendor.xml file before. You will be able to install any BlackBerry software for your device as well. If the carrier pushes down software to your device, then you will get those software as well.

Hope that helps you in your decision making.

This is NOT correct. Alltel and Verizon are CDMA networks. Their devices will NOT work on GSM networks (with the exception of the Storm). To say it will work on any network is incorrect. Most CDMA carriers do not allow other devices on their network. However, with Verizon's current acquisition of Alltel, they may allow Alltel devices on their network.

Yes - with the exception of the world phones from CDMA carriers, but only because they also have GSM bands.

Ok apologies for the wrong info. I know that CDMA devices will not work on a GSM network, I did not however know that you cannot unlock CDMA devices.

Learn something new everyday.

Thanks.
