Default WAP is pay per use for IM services

Please Login to Remove!

I was just told that by Cingular
I will be charged 2 cents a kb
Sorry to create a new thread but I've searched and there are so many different opinions yet no real answers on the fact that we supposedly have to pay for this
How does one argue this with Cingular
How is it not included in Unlimited
I was told it wasn't included cause "it's not necessary" by the rep

See thread "Tethered laptop 8700c Use figured out, Cingular Orange"
http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=22099
for some billing info.

My experience was that I did get billed, I then called in to get it adjusted, they told me I wouldn't get charged in the future, I had to call in a few more times after things got hosed up, everything works now and I was told I will not get charged since I have the BB unlimited data plan...

And you had to start a new thread for this information, What was wrong with the thread you quote above, you could have posted this there since it is related.

I hear ya, I just spent 3 hours on the phone with Cingular trying to figure crap out between Cingular/Blue issues they're both clueless. I had one idiot over in blue "support" tell me that using google's site in the blackberry browser triggers additional data charges.

On a similar matter, maybe we should have a tech support place for BB users who are for hold over blue people and one for orange. It's very difficult trying to decipher all the info that is being comingled, point-in-fact there are major differences as to what works for orange and what works for blue. frankly, I think we need a BB support area for the remaining Cingular blue users becasue the two are the same in name only.

Finally, does anyone know what's the direct dial number for Blackberry support is for old blue customers, the numbers here take you right to orange support.

Talking BB data support number for both systems

1-866-490-2666

That number should help.

As for customer service, the normal End user support people at the call centers are poorly trained...that's why they keep the second level support around. Ask for the Corporate support number.

Hope that helps.

As for the data support staff for both systems..they've been top notch for me..I've apparently gotten lucky.. The data staff is top notch though. They've been able to help me every time that Ive called them...my only problem is that they had to reactivate my 7290 on the network once..and it totally screwed the handheld load on the system. Always make a backup if they mention the words "Reprovision" and "now."

Blackberry: Canadian for flashlight. (Its a joke...I often find myself using my BB as a flashlight.)

Yeah, thanks, but that's the number I dial and the second I give them my cell number they tell me they have to "switch" me over to the old AT&T support and that's when I get into this mess where the "customer care" rep puts me on hold so they can go talk to the BB support person and then they come back and tell me what they've said and then I ask another question and they I'm on hold again. When I ask to speak to BB support directly they cliam they can't transfer me. It's a PITA, but I'm glad you at least get good help with that number. Thanks again...anyone else got a number. LOL

this is wrong, the bb plans for cingular should give you the wap access and include it and you should not need to have an pay per use features on your account...trust me on this one, pay per use is not required to use a wap browser...all that I can suggest is trying to call into the bb support rather then the general customer care...the bb support group should be able to have a better understanding of what the device is capable of then the general care departments.

There should be no pay per use for WAP because it is included in your BB data plan. If you don't have the unlimited BB data plan and you go over the allotted MB then, you'd be charged an overage fee.

tfaz1, your solution is only viable for those that have good Tmo service. Mine is not even adequate.

Ohhh snap! That's true, I suppose.

I guess I'm lucky that I have good coverage where I live and travel. I live in the Bay Area and travel south to LA and San Diego. I also make frequent trips to Boston, New York and Washington DC. From time to time I'll drop in to see family in Kentucky. All good.

But I suppose there are places where T-Mo isn't as strong...

Unfortunately, many.....you are lucky. I would stay with Tmo in a heartbeat if coverage was better around the state of Michigan. There are many major areas, Interstates included, that is coverage is spotty to nil.
