I work in project management in a matrix organization. I usually half a half dozen or more projects under different managers going at one time. I'm responsible for finding my own work and budgeting my time. I was wondering if there is a task / project management app that would allow me to not only assign tasks to projects, but would also let me assign the expected duration / time to complete. That way I could get a better sense of what days / weeks I'm light on work and give a quick accurate answer when one of my managers asks me if I have extra capacity. Right now I use Excel to guesstimate total time spent on projects in bi-weekly blocks, but it would be great, and more accurate, to do it by task.

I think what I'm looking for though is something that will show at the calendar level the sum of all the tasks, with multi-day/week tasks having their duration spread out (so a 20 hour project that takes two weeks to complete would have 10 hours allocated to each week, or two to each day). Not sure that ToDoMatrix does this--or any app from what I've seen.

TDM does not have that specific capability.
