Default Volume button changing songs instead of volume

Please Login to Remove!

I know this may have already been discussed but a quick sweep didn't find anything. My volume buttons keep switching songs instead of the volume for both the blackberry media player and pandora unless I just keep hitting it continuously. Where are the settings to stop it from acting as a skip button?

There is no setting for this... I find this behavior rather useful...
If I have my phone in my pants pocket and I want to skip to next song without taking it out just hold the volume....

Quick question... do you need to change volume or songs more often?

(if you are like me and use it with a car stereo, I leave volume as it is and adjust it at the car stereo itself.... and the same for my BT headphones (though those also have a song skip function)

I need to change the volume. This thing has been a pain in my ass for a while now. Especially when it skips a song on pandora that I really want to hear, which was why I was trying to turn it up in the first place.

You are simply pressing the volume button too hard.

Its about tap vs holding. Not pressure.
I like slacker radio better because it does not use this function so no accidental skips.

I understand your frustration and I would give Slacker a try, thought I've never tried pandora to compare I think Slacker is really good

I believe the "Key Rate" setting in the keyboard options affects how sensitive the push vs hold is on those keys. I know that when I followed some of the guides to improving the Storm keyboard, I couldn't adjust the volume without accidently skipping songs a lot.

Try resetting your keyboard options back to defaults and see if that helps.

You are totally right.

Set it to "slow" and you will be happier

Default Volume Key behavior across all Blackberry devices (atleast from 4.x till 5.x))

While playing Media Player, if u short press the volume keys, it functions as a Volume Key (increases/decreases the volume).
To increase / decrease volume, to more than one level, u have to short press and release repeatedly.

While playing Media Player, if u long press the volume keys, it functions as a Seek (NEXT/PREVIOUS) Key (Seeks up/down one track).

short press - press the key and release it less than approx 1/2 a second
long press - press the key and hold it for a moment (say, approx more than 1 second) and release it.

Hope this helps...
