BBM is BB Messenger.

What do you mean by freeze? Do you have a BB data plan?

Found the BBM under Blackberry App. Didn't like the idea that I'd to install it myself when all the other previous devices came pre-loaded.

The app installed successfully, but had to reboot a couple of times to make it fully work. And since it was re-installed, I lost my entire buddy list and had to re-add everyone one-by-one.

If you have ever done a PC backup of your blackberry with Desktop Manager you wouldnt have to add everyone one by one
