I just got the phone 2 days ago and everything works fine except for the 3.5 mm jack. I plug it in to my car mp3 port and the music plays fine but the phone stops functioning. No physical buttons respond even the unlock. The only thing that works is sliding the phone open which gives me touch access to the music screen. The music screen functions fine but since the physical buttons don't work I can't escape from the music screen. I have to remove the battery for the phone to function normally again. Any ideas as to what this coul be?

I don't know, but I'm curious. I imagine you are using a cord with standard 3.5mm jack and not a BlackBerry product. True? (The regular jack has two contacts, and a BlackBerry jack has three, I believe, for the phone and media functions, such as answer and hang up, pause and play, etc).

Also, does the same thing happen if you use head phone or ear buds, or just with the car?

Yup, standard 3.5mm. Ill try to get my hands on a three prong. Also, I haven't used headphones yet but I will check it out tonight. But doesn't the torch work with standard two prong headphones? If so, it wouldn't it be logical that the mp3 on the car should also function properly..

I don't know the ins and outs of this issue. I've always used OEM accessories with my blackberrys. But I know people who use standard headphones and earbuds, and then others who suggest that as the cause of whatever problem is being asked about. So I don't know if that is your problem or not, but rather just something to investigate.
