E-Mail Setup Problem
Please Login to Remove!
Hi,
i'm just bought my first blackberry (Bold 9700) with the BBOS 5, and just want to setup my yahoo email account, and the option is missing. This is what I do: click All - click Setup - click Email Account - and now comes the problem, i get ''Activated Accouns - No accounts activated'' and below that is ''Account Activation - To activate your enterprise account, enter details provided by your system administrator in the fields below - Email & Activation Password''. And thats it. I dont have a Enterprise Account, or a system administrator. I installed BBOS 6 on the device, but still the same problem. I saw the youtube tutorial for the email setup and in that video, after the click on Email Account, they get to options ''Internet Mail Account'' (the one that i dont have, and ''Enterprise Account''. Why dont i have the ''Internet Mail Account'' and how do i get it in? Thank you.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
You need a blackberry data plan.
You're carrier is O2? You need a blackberry bolt-on.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
The phone was bought from O2, but now i use t-mobile prepaid. What does my sim-card has to do with me email software option? Cant i just get my email with wifi, without a data plan? I'm starting to regret my switch from htc touch pro2 to bold 9700. Blackberry is the best in the world at emails ... and i dont even get that option, i stil dont see the connection ''data plan - OS software option''. Thanks for your time.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
No. A BB isn't like any other smartphone. You need a BB data plan or add on from your carrier to access any of the RIM services, such as email. You have to call the carrier to get it set up, properly activated and to get the correct service books.
Also, please update your profile to indicate which cell carrier that you are using.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
So Blackberrys do not have the basic function of recieving email by wifi? The is no program in the BBAppWorld that can do this on my phone? I dont want to pay for the ''blackberry option'' because i dont need it, i just want my email by wifi, its not a ''blackberry service'' its my wifi and my email, it has nothing to do with blackberry. Thank you.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
Email is a RIM/BB service as all mail goes through RIM servers. RIM pulls mail from your ISP on a regular basis and pushes it to the BB. WiFi can be used, but first you must have a BB data plan which gives you the proper service books and the connection to RIM. You need the "BB option" as you put it. There is no way around it as this is how the BB works, no app, no workaround.
You could try using the webmail connection for each of your email accounts via the browser and WiFi, but that will also be somewhat problematic without the proper data plan in place.
A BB is not like a regular (dumb) smartphone.

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
Help
I have the same problem except I'm on the Blackberry plan.
All my email account work fine on my previous devices, no problems.
The phone I'm transfering to is the 9700 on V6. (I know the process well)
Capital letters confirm there is BIS, however the registration message won't come through (even on request).
Can anyone think of any reason why the Blackberry service would ignore a device? Or why a phone wouldn't communicate with the server?
Cheers for any ideas!

Re: E-Mail Setup Problem
So, you associated the new BlackBerry PIN with your BIS account, sent service books and all that? No errors?
Is the "new" BlackBerry in fact new, or did you get it second hand? If the PIN is good (not banned), then I'm wondering about IT Policy blocking BIS.
