I've had an unlocked blackberry curve 8520 for about a year now. I upgraded to a Torch and kept the curve as a backup phone. The curve is originally Fido, and i used a Rogers plan on it, which worked fine. I tried to put my friend's Sim card (He's Telus) into the curve and it asks if i want to unlock my phone and to enter the MEP code. Under mobile network it says the phone is under a Rogers plan and the phone is locked. when i typed MEPD into the SIM Card page, it says my Network is now active.

Can anyone help me? I wiped the phone about 6 months ago when i got my new phone, does that have anything to do with the phone relocking itself?

Once unlocked a phone can never itself re-lock.

However, Fido run off Rogers. Its possible it wasn't unlocked, and it accepted the Rogers sim card, because its the same network.

Now, I've never heard this happen in regards to those networks, but I know it works in the UK. For example, Virgin run off T-mobile, and you can put a Virgin sim card into a locked T-mobile phone and it will work.

EDIT: Also the 8520 won't work on Telus. They run a CDMA and HSPA network. The 8520 doesn't have HSPA and so won't work.
