How To Disable Password
Please Login to Remove!
The password feature is great, but it is becoming a nuisance for me to enter my password every time I power up the device, or after it has not been used for an extended time. I am trying to disable the password prompt, but I cannot seem to find how. I went Options -> Security -> Password, but the Enable option has a lock on it and I cannot disable it. How do I change the password prompt?

Is your device on BES or is this a personal BB?

Re: How To Disable Password
Sound like the device has an IT Policy.
Did you obtain it new or used?

Re: How To Disable Password
If you type security and choose View IT policy, it may have been enabled

Re: How To Disable Password
I bought it used and for IT Policy it reads this:
Name: APC Policy
Last Updated: Nov. 10, 2011 810A
Place IT Policy Viewer Shortcut on Home Screen (unchecked)
Then under View IT Policy it says in red,
"Viewing the IT Policy will cause the device to lock," so I will not view it.
So now what?

Re: How To Disable Password
Be sure it's a BB you own because removing the policy if you work for a company that placed it there can cost you your job.

Re: How To Disable Password
Thanks for the link. However, the instructions say that when using Desktop Software 6.1 I need to follow a different set of instructions (KB27423). Nevertheless, thanks for the link.

Re: How To Disable Password
OK, guys, I followed all the directions and after restoring the device to factory settings and restoring the data, when I try to view the IT settings, it says, "* No Services *" I suppose that my device is now corrected?

Re: How To Disable Password
Correct - although you could have just used a simple-to-type 4-character password and change the the delay for something longer...like I did. I don't like the idea of having my device exposed to the world.
