I just uploaded to the latest firmware and I notice that a couple times the computer and device ask me for my password. I go ahead and enter them and install the new firmware without any problem. However, I wonder if the Installation Wizard will still install regardless if I enter my password or not. It would be nice to just plug in the device, leave for a few hours and come back with the firmware installed. Is it possible, or do I have to stand by and enter my password when needed in order to install?
I am only asked twice (at the beginning) to enter my device's password. After that, I am asked one more time after the final reboot. Never been prompted by my device for the password. Only windows and DM. Sometimes I leave or something and the phone reboots even if I have not entered the password. Not sure if that would work at the beginning.

The thing asking you for your password subsiquent times is *not* the loader.exe.
That's a component of desktop manager that's connecting to the device.
You can do un-attended upgrades.
You *will* need to enter your password to do a MANUAL restore. the automatic ones done by the lower wizard will not require you to enter the password beyond the 1 time.
I'm wondering if the Installation Wizard will update the firmware even if I do not even enter my password even once. The past couple times I have stood by the computer during the entire process, and 90 minutes is a lot of time to burn. After plugging in the device and starting the upgrading procedure, I'm wondering if I can just go run a few errands or the like. Anyone did that?
I don't think so I think you at least have to put it in that first time to get the phone and loader to connect. Or you can turn off the password option on your phone and then upgrade so it doesn't ask for your password. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
Turning off your device password and leaving your device unattended is a recipe for disaster. Unless Smooth lives alone or trusts those he lives with. As long as you enter it the first time you should be ok. Even if you left, you may have to enter it one last time when the update has been completed. Even so, that would take little time.

Yeah I agree with you I wouldn't do that either. Usually I put the PW in the first time and then go find something to do for about 20 I don't have much on my phone so the process for me doesn't take that long. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
