Long story short I switched from my 9900 to a Galaxy S4. The port wasn't supposed to happen until the evening but instead was instantaneous (ie: my 9900 SIM was killed off before I had a chance to do a few things).
What I'm wondering is, if I move the SIM from my wife's BB (same provider, fully provisioned) into mine will I be able to change my BBM status (to let folks know I'm no longer using BBM) and if so will this screw up her BIS/etc? I've been through countless Blackberries over the years and if I recall the BIS has gotten a lot smarter about detecting SIM/PIN changes and automatically redirecting to a "new phone". All I want to do is change my BBM status message then put the SIM back in her BB.
Thanks guys. Also, holy learning-curve with the Android...
No, I did check that as soon as I got home. I'm going to try to restore an old backup complete with service books to see if that's enough but I suspect it's not that easy. Failing that, I'll suck it up and swap the SIM to see if I can get that to work and just sort out the BIS mess if/when it crops up.
As expected, restoring the service books didn't work since they look for a valid SIM card before allowing network traffic. Swapping the SIM from my wife's phone worked and didn't cause any grief when I moved it back. I re-entered the password for her email accounts (BIS) to reactivate them and otherwise it was pain-free.
