Default Strange Folder Redirection Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Server: BES 4.0.4.6
Handheld: 7290 4.0.0.219

Our current BES server hosts 50 users. I have all the users setup to redirect only their Inbox under selected folders. I have one user for sure, possibly more, that everyday or so the Inbox unchecks itself so he stops receiving e-mails. I've just been making sure to check his account everyday but this is quickly getting old. I'm tempted to upgrade the OS on the blackberry itself, but wanted to see if anybody had a fix first.

What version of the desktop manager is installed on his computer? I found that if the user had a Desktop Manager version below 4.0, everytime the user ran the program, and plugged the device in, it would overwrite the settings on the server. A quick fix was to make sure the correct folders were checked in the BB desktop manager program.

He should be at 4.0 unless there is stuff lying around from the previous install.

We have the same problem at my company. After contacting RIM, they basically said that this is normal. I tried to explain that there is no way that the Inbox unchecking itself is "normal", but they were no help at all. Basically, the tech said to go into the account on the BES, go to Redirection, choose Selected Folders, and choose only Inbox. Seems ludicrous to me, but that was there suggestion. I don't think it should be set to sync Sent Items by default anyway. I am yet to find anyone who wants to see all of their Outlook Sent Items to show up on the Blackberry. Anyone know a better way of doing this?

One other suggestion is have the user check to redirect his inbox in the desktop manager, rather than you doing it in the BES console. No matter how many times I would check inbox only, his Desktop Mgr would override every time he plugged in the blackberry! Frustrating!

That is what I did for my user. It was unchecked in the Destkop Manager and sure enought every time he plugged in it would override server settings. Checked it in both places and things have been fine for a week and a half or so.
