Not sure about Cingular's browser, but on Verizon it does show Requesting in the status line.

i had a tmobile 8700g and the 8703e seems to load pages ALOT faster, but request for a while before it loads the pages, whereas the 8700g just kind of requested and loaded at the same time..

EVDO is alot faster than EDGE, but is also known for that latency effect that you noticed...

Is anyone else getting spotty 1xEV coverage? In my house, where the Tre00 700w and the Moto Q always had 1xEV, the 8703e constantly switches between 1x and 1xEV.

did you change any settings or did you just fire it up, could this just be an area problem thing, or could there be something wrong with my phone. i just don't like the fact my friends edge runs quicker....

I went into browser configuration and checked off all of the options and changed my emulation mode to Microsoft IE but I don't see how any of that would speed up my browser.

then I remembered that when I looked at the back of my BB (with the battery out)... it says "Made in Canada" Maybe that has something to do with it.

I am having the same issue, where it is switching back and forth... A Q is also doing the same thing where I am making me wonder if it is the tower.. Either way, it is unacceptable to not have EVDO coverage in an area where there should be full broadband coverage... Hopefully verizon can fix this...

Unless this is just normal behavior and I am not aware of it?

Yea, the honeymoon is goddamn over! WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THIS ANNTENAE??? This is out of control. Ive been at 1 bar for a while now where my normal verizon coverage is amazing.

Can it be service book?
On Verizons side?
Bad device?

I cant have a device with no signal!

From 7:00am yesterday morning until righ about now, i still have one bar of battery, bunch of e-mails, sms, and bb messanger and a couple of hours talktime, battery is definitley legit. Signal strength is not as much of a problem although i do see some issues, also 1XEV is full coverage for this device correct, other devices say EV when in full coverage but i believe the BB is different...

ok just wanted to make sure

i think if you go with cingular or verizon or tmobile, i have come to realize each service isn't perfect so although verizon might be above a step right now then the rest, its still has its issues. so everyone who got their phone don't panic.,... just enjoy it a new version will come out in a few months to a yr and you'll be getting that one as well. just think about how well it does things compared to the xv6700
