Question Files on Media card question

Please Login to Remove!

When I mount my Pearl I see this:

berry>
>.trashes
> 501

>blackberry
>all the folders I made on the media card and
>system(which is empty)

>PMP
mp3.exe
pmm2201.cfg
screen.bit
wma.exe

My question is what is the folder pmp and what are the files in it?

Thanks!

The only folders that the 8100 creates is the Blackberry folder and all the media folders that are inside that folder. I don't know where the PMP folder came from. That's not something the 8100 created.

wow! that media card is actually very convenient. it looks like it came pre-loaded with the PMP files. (i gather PMP stands for Personal Media Player) and it has software to play mp3 and wma files. i actually kinda like that concept.

ANYWHO. many flash cards come pre-loaded. just like sony branded cards some setup to store photos if u have a sony digicam, a games folder if ur using the card in a PSP or other playstation, etc.

so i dont know what brand ur card is, but my guess is that company ALSO sells their own mp3 player and the card comes preloaded/structured for that player so that it would benefit THAT player, bit in no way affect its use on any other brand of player.

so basically.... delete the PMP folder. the files are of NO use to your pearl. i can say that 100%. they're merely to help an mp3 player of hte same brand as ur card or play mp3s off ur card from a computer that doesnt have mp3 or wma software already on it (virtually none of which exist anymore!).

so delete them and enjoy the extra space

1. in your advanced settings do you have mediacard support turned on

2. by default i dont think you can read it simply by going into 'media' from your pearl. once in there you have to hit the menu button and choose 'explore' and THEN you will be able to see the contents of the card

the only way you can see the contents of the card by simply going into the media option is if you format the card with your blackberry. then it will make the proper ringtone/music/video folder structure to use through the easy 'media' navigation icons

Yes the media support is on. I see it when I use the explorer and when I mount on the mac and the pc.

It's a SanDisk 512mb.

Oh yeah--there's a sandisk mp player. That what it must be.
