Has anyone had a problem with resetting their BB whereby it takes 10 to 20 minutes to return to normal? I've loaded the latest supported OS (3.8) from BlackBerry (for AT&T) and a few applications, and now it shows a spinning hourglass for what seems eternity before returning to a usable state. What's worse, sometimes it spontaneously goes into the spinning hourglass mode after having loaded a new application from Desktop Manager, and again takes 10 to 20 minutes to resume. I can find no mention of this problem anywhere on the net, include here, AT&T's site, or BlackBerry's.

i had the same problem on my 7290

except everything was VERY VERY slow.. my reboot was slow, scrolling was slow.

then i upgrade to 4.0.. and everything went alot faster.

the bench mark1 test prior to my upgrade was 761
after i upgraded i got 845

I can only assume it means its better...

Right after I installed 4.0 it was really slow to restart. But now with 4.0 up and running.. every time I install a program (like a game/utility), the hourglass screen doesn't last for more than a minute or two.

After upgrade to OS 4.0, my 7100t took exactly 7 minutes to boot up after reinsert battery.
Any fix for this?

I have the same problem with my TMO 7230. As I added applications and took them off the reboot took a long time (several minutes). I think the memory gets defraged, that is my theory anyway. I would try to wipe it out and restore it but I am scared of something going wrong.

This is normal after an initial OS 4.0 upgrade, but subsequent reboots should take only 60 seconds or so...

Make sure that memory is not full (i.e. Options->Status or Tools->Status), if so, then clear some memory to speed things up.

...and since I test applications on the BB, it is excruciatingly annoying to wait anywhere from 7 - 10 minutes to load a new build onto the device. Another 7100t in the office does NOT have this problem (reboot takes about 40-60 seconds (which is still too long in my opinion but I certainly wouldn't complain if I could figure out how to get it into that cycle range).

There seems to be enough of this going around that I had hoped that someone would know what was up.

I don't think it's memory. I have ~12 MB free out of ~30 MB.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, same issue here, and I also have ~12 MB free. Thought the long reboot times were just the nature of the 4.0 beast, but now I'm little irate, too. I haven't rebooted my wife's 7100t since upgrading her to 4.0, so maybe I'll yank the battery out of that unit and see how quickly it boots...
