Default same problem..

I am having the same problem.

I have an 8100. Cingular service in the San Francisco Bay area.

Here is the problem I encountered:

Earlier today.. I am pretty sure I wasn't even touching any of the buttons, but *poof* my blackberry lost all the call history, and like ALL my email (going back MONTHS and MONTHS) except for the about 1/3 of today's emails, about 1/3 of yesterdays email -- and then there isn't ANY other email messages until a single "Registration" message all the way back on March 1, 2006 when I originally set up the unit. Oh yeah -- also *ALL* of my text messages (and there were at ton earlier todday) were gone too..

I can't see any rhyme or reason about what stayed and what disappeared..

Any ideas?

I had the same issue before. Basically your memory is nearly full so to protect the critical systems the phone will "dump" the less important things like messages and call log. A quick way to free up some memory is to delete the unused languages on the phone. There are dozens of languages preloaded on the phone and 99% of them will never get used and they are just taking up valuable space.

This is a pretty common problem on the 8100 and you can probably find dozens of threads regarding this in the 8100 section. I've looked through and compiled a bunch of information on this and posted ways to fix this and free up some memory...

Follow This Link

If it doesn't take you right to it, its post #21 in that thread. You could also clear the event log, the steps of which can also be found in the 8100 section

Good luck,
Bob
