Default Dropped my 8820 in the commode

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I was trying to help my son drain the main vein, and my 8820 was in my breastpocket... well it fell in before he even got started...Completelly submerged for a few seconds... I took it out and I looked at the screen and thing were not looking very well.. so I immediatelly took the battery out..
I shaked it for a few times and water kept coming out...

Put a hair dryer on it.... put battery in.. nothing...

Clean it a little bit more... is started but SIM card was not reading..

Took SIM card out, cleaned it... SIM card was read but could not control most keys...

More hair drying, now it kept typing on its own #####uuuuuu until I took the battery out..

Went to sleep, woke up... still not good... Kept starting it... time after time till finally everything is back to normal.. even the speaker and microphone are fine now... Good as new....

Do this, now:
Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ

It can still go bad, sometimes the "wet" does not affect it for a few hours. I had mine working great for six hours after the drop 'n quick dry. The next morning it was toast.

DON'T plug it in to charge at all until you are confident it is completely dry.

Good luck.

I would still let it dry for a few days!!! just to be safe there could still be moisture inside which could cause further damage

Its been a few days already and doing well. I had to apply my shaolin iron ice fishing technique to get it out as fast as possible.. Needless to say, I would have jumped in a pile of poop to save my BB ;P

There are two moisture detectors in your phone. One is on the battery and the other is "inside". If the moisture indicators have turned color then there is no warrenty on your phone. This is pretty standard on all cell phones and carriers.

When I took my wifes Razr in when the keyboard stopped working the first thing the Verizon tech did was check the moisture indicators. When he saw that water was not the issue they replaced the phone.

even if the moisture indicators aren't set off if when it gets back to manufacturer and they find evidence of liquid or physical damage they can bill you for the replacement

If it works that is fine, if it quits you need to replace it. Thats all!
