Default Probs with MDS - Users getting asked for password

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am having problems getting my bes to work with mds so that it allows
blackberries to access our corporate intranet. I have got it setup so that
they can access the intranet but they are always prompted for their domain
username and password, even though I have Http Proxy Enabled set to True
and MDS Authentication Enabled set to true, with the username and password
entered. Username is in format of domain\username. Is there somewhere
else I need to tell it this domain username and password or a setting that
I am overlooking? I am running Bes version 4.0.3.2 in a Lotus Notes
environment.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Same problem here! Running BES 4.1 SP4 Maintenance Release 4, and the problem popped up about a week ago. No change in the configuration, and all of our users were configured to use the proxy credentials specified in the BES setup.

We are running the BES in an Exchange environment.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

When you browse from the BES internally do you get prompted for a login? Browsing using the BB Browser is the same as browsing from an internal PC. You should only need to use the username and password, the domain does not need to be specified. Try removing the domain and see if it works.

tsturton - Were there any Proxy changes recently? Quite often change may occur without people being notified. A proxy change might be the issue, that's all I can think of, unless you want to remove the proxy credentials from the BES and readd them.

We're able to browse the net from the BES without problem. We haven't made any changes to the proxy recently. This seems to be an intermittent problem; the users are prompted for a login when trying to access a site through the BlackBerry browser, yet if they cancel and try again several seconds later, they can often get through. My suspicion was that perhaps the account used to pass the net requests through the BES was being locked out, but this is not the case. A sporadic problem, which is the most frustrating aspect.

I have set up a second BES and am running a few users on it with no problem, accessing the browser with the same credentials as on the prod BES. The only difference is that I am running local MSDE databases on this BES, vs SQL on a remote server for the production BES.

Thanks Gibson_Hg,

I have removed the domain from my username in the mds settings and it has stopped asking me for my password. However it did used to remember it for a day and then start asking me again. So I'll need to keep an eye on it. However some new corporate dude higher up than me needs a blackberry asap so me being nice gave him mine til a new one is ordered up. So my testing is on hold

Thanks for your help! I'm sure to come back if it still ain't working.

Default Same Here

Loaded 4.1.4 MR4 last week and the same issues are occuring. It was all fine before.....

We also have a remote SQL database.

You can use the BlackBerry Browser to access a website, then it fails, asking for network credentials. Refresh, and it loads fine without entering any credentials.

MDS Proxy settings have our account to use, and this hasn' altered.

Any help would be apprecited

Smile Eureka - there is a patch :)

Like all of you we have been experiencing the problem that users get prompted to enter credentials in order to access the internet. I talked to tech support at RIM again today and they supplied me with a file called BMDS.JAR. Once I replaced that file on our BES with this new version all the problems were resolved.

Hope that helps you too.

Cool

I had the same problem her with several BBs, we use a Proxy here. After verifying MDS, I decided to look on the BBs and changed the Browser (Options > Advanced Options > Browser) and changed the default browser configuration to Internet Browserthen changed the Default MDS browser configuration to BlackBerry Browser.

This also allows us to view our Intranet

Sorry, but explorer would not display a version of the file when I right-clicked it. But maybe this will help:

old bmds.jar MD5 hash: 15D12C423C1E080B708D1DF4A739EE5D
new bmds.jar MD5 hash: EE1E325FC47753560834F79FF8F5D4E2

Thanks for the reply.

Is there any chance you can email a copy of the file to me?

PM me for an email address.

Thanks.

Thanks for the file, but this didn't fix my problem.

I narrowed it down to the version of the BES. We have two 4.1.4 BES's one with MR3 and one with MR4. The one with MR3 works ok, but the one with MR4 had the problem.

I installed SP5 for 4.1 and this fixed the problem! SP5 has also fixed an email reconciliation issue I had with Exchange 2007.
