Default USB charger not working

Please Login to Remove!

I have the usb cord connected to my blackberry and it has always charged perfectly....I just decided to upgrade to the latest verizon 4.2 software as I thought (hoped) that the volume would increase on the bluetooth...anyway...now for some reason it does not charge the 8703. You see the plug icon but after a while it goes away...never charges it....anybody know why?...is there a setting on the desktop I should have done..I upgraded that as well....you would think juice is juice..but ????? thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8130/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Might be messed up if its less than a year old they will replace it under warranty.

Do you have a different usb cord to try, as far as I know there is no setting for the BB to charge.

I just tried the car charger and the same thing happens...it has the cord icon like it tries to charge and then it the cord icon goes away...doesnt charge...so it is not the cord....could it be the outlet on the blackberry?....has anybody every heard of updating software and having problems with charging?

By any chance your Blackberry's battery is already full? Maybe use it for about an hour or so and then try to charge it.

Try a hard reset? I have seen the blackberry not show the plug icon when connected to charger, and hard reset fixed things. I know this situation isn't exactly the same (plug icon shows then disappears), but worth a try if you haven't done it already. Otherwise, could be broke and just coincidence that it happened at same time as upgrade.

What constitutes a hard reset?...and how do you do it...does it wipe everything out?

With the blackberry powered on, pull the battery and wait 30 seconds or more before putting the battery back.

did the hard reset...still shows three bars and then the charger icon goes away, with three bars showing....perhaps I should take to verizon and try another battery to see if it is the battery or the device and that maybe it is fully recharged but only showing it is not fully recharged. That way I will know what is what.

Sounds like my 7520. I tried 3 chargers and a new battery with no luck. FUBAR. Got new 8703e.
Can you access the BB with Desktop Manager? If so I'm thinking the usb port is good.
Did you reactivate after the upgrade? I had to hard reset before my 8703e would activate go fig.
Try to reinstall the older ver OS, if that doesn't help- box it up!
Like zerog46 said, just get a new one if under warranty:(

I tried installing the old OS but did not have the Os for the device...I was able to install the old OS from the cd I was given but the OS on the device must have been there and I dont have that OS....at least it is not on the two discs that I got in the box. Then I had the old OS on the desktop but the new and it didnt like that, obviously, so I reloaded the new.....where would I find the old os for the blackberry device?

no update as of yet...would like to install the older Os but dont have a copy of the OS on the blackberry...only have the discs that came with the blackberry and they only seem to have the desktop software.....when you go online they only seem to have the newer as well. This HAS to have something to do withupdating the new software....all chargers do the same thing...actually it could be the battery...but fully charged only show three bars and even if the battery was bad, it should show full then just discharge quickly..who knows...very strange occurance
