Default BB Professional Help

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Exchange 2007 environment and I have installed and configured the BB Pro software. I have not seen any documentation on this so I am asking the BB Forum Experts...

Do I need to open any ports on my firewall for any BB Services?

Thanks!

Yes you need to open port 3101 to allow outbound initiated connections.

Why do I need to open an outbound connection? Normally I open ports for inbound connections only?

Depends on your firewall. Remember that most of the BES admins here work for corporations, I would suspect we all use enterprise grade firewalls. Those come with a nothing in/nothing out config out-of-the-box.

I am using a Sonicwall Pro 3060 firewall which is a enterprise firewall. It comes out of the box Nothing In, but does allow outbound.

Thanks
