Default BES Server Help

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,

My friend and I are trying to install exchange and bes on the same server. Exchange is installed correctly and email is flowing internally and externally. We then installed our bes server, all the licenses were validated. Now heres where we ran into some problems. We tried to activate the blackberry through wireless activation. On the screen of the blackberry, the screen is stuck on activating. We checked the mailbox of the "testuser" account, we can see that its trying to activate with the bes server.

Are we doing anything wrong? if anybody can help it out.. its greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

Take a look at spam filters and/or the Junk Mail in the Outlook client (if one is configured for your test user).

We've also had mail relay issues here that have caused this to happen, but I'd guess that is unlikely to be your issue.

Default You may want to reconsider....

I'm far from an BES expert, but we have that same configuration and its painful. Exchange Service packs, and Patching may break BB. I'm seeking assistance in removing BES from our exchange server without freaking out exchange or breaking mailboxes.

Think hard...

Be sure the testuser email account is the exchange server email account
and that is the only email account setup
I struggled with this until I did this and it now works

Default A few things to try ...

... are included on that Blackberry support page.

Verify that the Mapi32.dll and CDO.dll files match version-wise. One resides in the win\system32 and the other in your exchsrvr\bin directory. There are some microsoft kb's on that if they dont match.

RIM would have you remove certain service books and then to a "Resend Service books". That is in the Options/Advanced Options on the device. They usually remove the Desktop SYNC, CMIME, CICAL. One thing they told me was to change the amount of days to "KEEP APPT" in the calendar from the default 60 days to 15.

Also, I know this sounds stupid, but I was having the same issue where all 8 devices would stick around the 56% mark on activation. I looked in my EventVwr and had multiple BiPPeClient connection errors. I even got on the phone with RIM and you know what fixed it .... you got it, a @#@$@%@^ reboot!

The tech I talked to, who was great, said she had seen this happen frequently in the past few weeks with version 4.1.4.x. I don't know how easy it would be to reboot but its worth a try. Would have saved me 4 hours!
