Default 8830 wipe

How do I wipe it? We just changed from Sprint to AT&T and I need to turn in my 8830 but need to wipe it clean first.

Set a password
Enter it incorrectly 10 times. Type the word "blackberry" when requested.

After the 10th incorrect password, the BB will erase and restart itself. No more data.

I seem to remember an easier way.

I think the password is the easiest way.

That doesn't get rid of third party applications. I prefer the password way.

On the 8830 it does. With 4.2.2 you get prompted to erase third-party apps when you do the wipe. At least it does on mine.

Ahha - good to know that on newer versions of the OS that it works that way. When I want to wipe out a BB, I use Javaloader. Fastest and most efficient (for me).

Yeah, it must be a recent addition. I have an 8703e with 4.1 and it doesn't prompt to dump third-party apps with the wipe.

Thanks, the wipe using the BB application worked fine. There is a check box to delete third party apps.

How is this relevant to the discussion?

Does this work with an 8130 Pearl, and does it wipe the OS ?

It works with all OS 4.2 and above. It does not wipe the OS, it just wipes information clean...makes it look like the "out of box" experience when you first ripped off the screen sticker.
