I have exchange 2000 system Manager installed on our BES (4.1). A requirement of some other software on the same server (W2k) requires that System Manager 2003 be installed on the BES. Will uninstalling 2000 and installing Exchange Sys Manager 2003 present problems with the existing install of BES? Will BES use the appropriate MAPI client after reboot?

Thats a tough one. I would guess it would be bad to upgrade. CDO.dll must match is all over the forums.

This is fine, you can uninstall ESM 2000 and install ESM 2003 and apply all necessary SP's as well. You can alos try just upgrading it by running the ESM 2003 install over the 2000, might be easier that way. Just make sure to check your MAPI profiles after. You can open the BB Server Config utility and click the BB Server tab. Click the Edit MAPI Profile button and verify that all settings are still there.

Personally I'd future proof myself, remove the Exchange 2000 tools completely and install the new CDO MAPI objct that is required for Exchange 2007, it is backwards compatible with 2003 and I am certain 2000 as well, that way if you ever add a 2007 Exchange server you do not have to upgrade again.
