Yeah the Yahoo IM is great and works seamlessly - too bad MSN decided not to jump on the bandwagon.
Oh well - guess I'll just make friends that use Yahoo IM from now on!

Ramble IM problem
I downloaded Ramble IM and cant seem to figure out how to get this started.
I keep on getting the same error message every time I try to log on to the program:
Invalid Connection String:
Bad DNS Address
Here are my specs:
Device: 7130e
Carrier: Bell Mobility Canada (on the EV-DO network)
Not connected through BES.
I cant figure out how to change my TCP settings – Its nowhere in my options menu.
Hope you can help me..

Could this mean that we can use any application on the 7130e that requires access to the internet as opposed to not being able to because of the disabled TCP/IP stack on the 7250?
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
thanks

The answer is NO. You would have to be on a BES server.

Thanks for your answer - its just that the support guy at Ramble said that you dont have to be on a BES server...

Most people dont but apparently there are restrictions that are set directly by Bell Mobility. I am with Verizon in NJ and I do not have BES and my Ramble works great. You are experiencing a carrier restriction rather than a software one. The answer i copied above came from a person that works directly for Bell Mobility Data Support.

Mark, or anyone else. I have a question. Not that I'm trying to dodge paying for these IM apps, but i noticed there is this really cool website called "meebo" you can find it at http://www.meebo.com . It is web 2.0 based, and it lets you log on simultaneously (within the browser) into google talk/msn/aim/yahoo messenger/or even jabber. I tried, but it wouldn't work. Can any of you take a look at it? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, it is probably that the page uses javascript, But i thought it'd be worth a shot to put it on here.
Thanks a bunch,
J.T.

Here is how I do msn messenger
go to the web icon on your bb and go to the "nextel wireless web" go down to "news" then go all the way down to MSNBC and then you can choose from a bunch of MSN options.....hotmail, messenger, calandar etc.
The only thing is that its kinda dificult to get the hang of but once you do its pretty cool (hit refresh button to get reply )
I dont know if it costs any money tho so if anyone knows can you please let me know?

Question from a newbie...in fact, such a newbie, I don't even have my first blackberry yet (coming soon).
I am mostly only interested in Yahoo!. Is there a free blackberry Yahoo messenger service, or would I have to use one of those multi-platform ones in the faq like Verichat.
If I do have to use one like Verichat, would that allow me to use the "invisible" mode like I do in Yahoo!?

I'm recently interested in getting an IM client for Yahoo (primarily). I also use Google, but not as much, so that's just a nice-to-have. I have the trial of Verichat installed and it's indeed very nice. I like the IM Bots they have. But damn - $45 PER YEAR seems to be a bit steep for a small IM client.
Is this still the front-runner?
I'm also testing out IM+ since it's only $45 period - no annual fee.
Any latest thoughts?

What about the invisible mode? DId you notice whether that was an option in either?
I agree about the Verichat....I hate software that wants you to pay a service fee to use.

No visible mode in IM+ at this time. I deleted Verichat, so I'm not sure about that one...

MSN through Google Talk
You can use GoogleTalk for blackberry to log in MSN via a transport.
This makes RIM Google Talk a FREE MSN client on the BlackBerry...
(BTW, There is transport for many other IM like ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, MSN...)

Question. On my BB7520 ive noticed that when I start up Ramble it signifigantly slows down the performance of my BB. I clear out the current conversations continually and just jumping between my Mail and Pin messages while IM'ing is aggravating to say the least. I dont have that many other applications. Ive only added spell check, BB light, Ask me now and google maps. Am I possibly running to many applications? I have 14232632bytes free.
