Any idea why it's not working?

The issue is not quite clear. There might be a reason that the video file was converted for the BlackBerry incorrectly. I can suggest you to use BlackBerry video converter.
Could you please denote some more information. What mobile device are you using? How other files are played? If you try to use BlackBerry video converter for the files that are not played full screen, please inform how they are played after the converter. Thanks.

I'll do some more experimenting. I'm pretty sure they were converted with BlackBerry video converter.
The device is an 8800 with OS 4.2.1.79.
The video size was formatted for 320X240.

Hello,
The new update of xPlayer is now released.
Please download the latest version 1.0.1 at xPlayer :: BlackBerry :: Download
We had a lot of fixes in this version including the backlight is not turning off while the video is playing.
Feel free to post your feedbacks!

The web site says it's available for OTA installation at wap.shapeservices.com, but it isn't.

Yes it is. Go to the WAP page, scroll down to more software. It's the second one listed on this page.

Any kind of time frame on this feature???

I would guess that they are in no hurry as its a free product and XM (just came out)/mediaPlayer/BerryTunes can do this already. Not saying that they won't just that there is little incentive.

Can't see any second page.
I've loaded the software and now my playlists are all gone. Is that normal?

Hi,
Just downloaded version 1.0.1 OTA on my BB8800 but after the successful download and install i received the following error while trying to open the app.
"Uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.system.ControlledAccessExceptio n"
Any ideas?
My BB is running V4.2.1.101 (Platform 2.3.0.80)

Open Internet Browser. Click "BB button" (Left of Trackball). Select "Go To". Type in "http://wap.shapeservices.com/blackberry/index.php". Scroll down. Click on "More Software...". Now you are on page 2. Scroll down to second listing on this page, past DeskFinder, and you will see XPlayer. Click "Download". Click "Save", else click "Yes" to overwrite existing version.

First, did you reboot after recieving the error? 90% of all errors can be fixed by soft reboot (ALT+Shift+Del) or battery pull.
Second, did you overwrite a previous version or is this a fresh install? If so, try and uninstall and install from OTA. If issue persists then install via DM.

Please make sure you are running OS 4.2 and higher. If you are not, you won't see the xPlayer in the list.

Hello,
You would need to edit security permissions on your Blackberry.
1. Open Options/Security/Application Permissions
2. Select xPlayer
3. Select Edit Permissions from the menu
4. Configure the Security Permissions to "Allow" for all categories.
5. Save the changes
Then please try to launch xPlayer once more.

That makes sense, I was checking it on my PC before I tried it on the Blackberry.

(Sorry, had to)
Anything that is WAP or OTA is for BlackBerry viewing/installation only. Most pages that have OTA links on a WAP page will autodetect what phone/firmware you have so you don't install an incorrect version.

Hello am_bb8800,
Let me point your attention that xPlayer supports the following audio and video formats: mp3, m4a, avi, mp4, 3gp, wma, amr, mid, wav.
The m4v file format is just not supported. Please try to convert your file to another format using any converter application.

Irene

Could you add the ability to read wpl (windows playlist) files? It would allow us to sync with windows media player.
