it didn't work for me. i was running 4.3 and even tried pulling the battery. i am upgrading now to 4.5 so we will see if that helps.

Did you send the service books?

If so, delete the current MMS service (if you have them, there should be two), reboot the device and resent the SBs.

yes, i resent the service books. it didn't work, so i pulled the battery and tried again. nothing. so now i'm waiting on my OS upgrade and then i will try again. the two new MMS services never showed up.

Just wanted to say that AFTER I upgraded to OS 4.5 and sent my service books again, MMS showed up! I am SO glad!!! thanks for the tip!!!

Jreneking - where did you get the O.S. 4.5 fom Alltel or someplace else?

Updated first post with a little more info.

For you users with 4.3 OS...I'd strongly suggest that you get the 4.5 OS from one of the stickies in the top of this section, just navigate to the one meant for your device model and FOLLOW THE STEPS!!!

Some users report 4.3 OS and MMS being compatible, some report otherwise. Either way, you're missing out in many fixes/updates/additions/changes/etc if you don't upgrade...even HTML e-mail, which you know you want.

Alltel has not released the 4.5 OS, but other service providers have...and they will work just fine on your device.

I couldnt make it work on 4.3 but upgraded to 4.5 and MMS works like a champ now.

I have MMS, but cannot recieve video messages. It just give me the " an alltel user has sent you a video message go to axcessmypics.com to view". But i can receive picture messages. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't received anything like that yet, probably because no one has tried to send me a video message. I can send pics, audio and video...and so far have received pics, and pics+audio.

It may be because the video clip was too big? I'll try to send myself a video clip from someone else's phone and see what happens.

The answer is yes..if you don't already have it all you have to do is update your phone with the new OS posted on the forum..I did it and now i have MMS

Here is the scoop. On 4.3 the packet data size is different than what alltel needed. So you have to run 4.5. The reason that some people recieved it on 4.3 is that blackberry released it early and shouldnt of. It could actually bring the whole mms system down. So they pulled it from users using 4.3. You can update to 4.5 and resend service books. Or wait till monday Alltel is releasing the official version of 4.5.

Just an FYI,

I have downloaded 4.5.0.77 as of this morning, and after some headaches because of computer/phone issues, it is working.

I'm still trying to figure out the settings and change some things around, but overall, it's working great.

I have received pictures from non-Alltel users. I have sent pictures to non-Alltel users.

I have sent and received videos from/to Alltel users on LG8600 phones (not BB).

So, it seems to be working. I will check out Alltel's in depth details on their upgrade/download as of Monday to see if I want to do this all over again on their update (doubtful that I will).

I just downloaded 4.5.. Works great so far.
I was able to send a pic msg.
