Just tell them that you are traveling to a country that doesn't have AT&T coverage, and you need the code. As long as your account has been in good standing for at least 90 days, they should provide you with the code and instructions on how to unlock the phone.

If they wont give it to you, hang-up and call again.

Hope it works out for ya.

Congratulations!
BTW- AT&T call centers are in TN, so I guess you just got unlucky with your rep.

got my code no problem.
dont forget the instructions on how to enter the code
Select “Settings” Menu , then go to Advanced Options > SIM Card

Type alt-MEPE by holding the ALT-key and typing the letters MEPE
This will not show on the screen.

When prompted with “Enter Network MEP code (255 left)” on the screen, enter the 16-digit network unlock code provided for your phone (with no "p", "w", "+" or "#"), then press Enter.

You can also get ATT to unlock it through their Live Chat System with the Techs. Available online.

Hope this helps.

I just tried and was told I had to activate an "International Roaming feature for $5.95 a month" before I could get my code. Going to try Live System Chat tomorrow and see if they are any better.

Live chat turned out the same. Seems my account was heavily noted from the phone call I had made. Not happy with AT&T right now. Especially since I am a customer from when they were BellSouth Mobility in 1993.

They said the same thing to me but instead just added the $0.00 International plan that allows for international roaming, just not the "discount" plan.

Default Unlocking Blackberry 9000 Bold

No problems. About a month ago I called at&t, they asked for my IMEI, and I got an email from them with the code and instructions. The phone nummber I called was 1-800-331-0500

Yeah, some reps will try to do that. After that you will be transferred to the International Roaming Dept (or w/e its called) and they aren't going to give you the code easily. You need to get a normal rep.

I was in Germany in August, and I wanted to unlock my 8310 to use Blau, and it took about an hour of negotiating to get the code.

Hang-up, call back, try again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
