Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Options >About. On the third line down. Starts with a v

If you have a 9630 then you have OS 4.7 or 5.0 and you can use the instructions in the first post, Method 1.

Default IT Policy - unable to remove lock

I have followed the instructions for Method 1 but still unable to remove the padlock. Does someone have the "policy.bin" file so that I can try Method 2, or any alternate suggestions?

Thanks

Which padlock are you talking about? On which setting?

What OS do you have on your 8830?

If you still have the padlock then you are doing something wrong. Either you do not have OS 4.5 on the 8830, in which case you need to update the device and then try again, or you are connected to a BES.

As JC said, if you're still on the BES they'll just push the policy back onto your device after you remove it. It's been said many times but is worth repeating: messing with an IT Policy while on BES is usually grounds for immediate termination.

Default how to remove it policy

Forgive my stupidity..bought my son an unlocked 8700 but I can t load Facebook or thrid party software says IT Policy...
My understanding is this
1. BAck up blackberry to Desktop Manager
2. download Java Commander
3. Once it is on my computer how do I apply it to the blackberry to do the reset? I'm missing something here. or am I supposed to download it directly to the Blackberry and not on the computer?

Thanks

First make sure the 8700 is running 4.5 (Options > About).

If so, here is how to connect:How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Instead of selecting the Wipe Handheld option, select Reset to Factory

You need your service book.

Try going to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Menu Key > Register Now.

If you did a backup, you could try doing an advanced restore of your service book database.

Default service book

they provided me with the following:general wap settings: APN:wap.fido.ca IP address 205.151.011.011 WAP Home page://fido.mobi username: fido, password: fido

Does this help me? If so, what do I do with this? How do I input this into my phone?

Thanks

HI
I have a 7290 with v4.1 installed...
I was try to use method 2 to remove the IT policy so that I can set the phone to not use any passwords...

Well it looks like it worked half way...
I have more option that I had before...
It no longuer syas that there a Policy in action

But i still can`t set the password to disabled....
I can change the psw to something else... but just no having no password...
Tried to do a Data wipe... did not solve the problem....

Edit:
I fixed the issue...
I took my time to readd all the posts in this thread...
and I found out what I was doing wrong...
I actualy copied the code on page 1 in a txt file and renamed it Policy.bin... d`ho!
I then realised that I needed the ITPolicy tool and the code on page 1 in a policy.inf
to generate the policy.bin file

and then run: loader.exe/resettofactory

A lot less hassle than Jl_cmder.
That worked for me. EASY! Thanks
I wish that there was a 'good karma' button in this forum.

I didn't know that either. I'll update the first post as soon as it's not Mother's Day!

Thanks for your input. The upgrade to 4.5 did work, so I will go back to my old company and make sure they removed me from their BES policy. They let me keep the BB when I left but may have not removed me from their policies, which wouldn't surprise me.

Thumbs up Option 1 works very well

I wiped a 8320 and reloaded OS. I continued with IT Policy. I downloaded JL_Cmder and followed Option 1 for resettofactory. After reset to factory completed, IT policy was gone and so was password. I did not have to restore from the backup I made.

Thanks!

Default Help me get my email

I have a new Storm running v5 that had been configured for a BES connection, but never used.
I have tried both versions of method 1 and downloaded a new version of the OS, but still cannot see the option to configure general email - I only get the second option to connect to BES.
There are no visible policies. The phone was originally Verizon, but is unlocked and everything else seems to work OK, just no email & no browser, even after the reload
Can you offer any suggestions?

Philip

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

Do you have a BB data plan with your wireless service provider?

Once that data plan is provisioned properly on your account you should get a "Setup email" icon under Settings.

No, I am running it on a pre-paid number here in Philippines. It was originally bought from US. Even though I have run the restore factory settings there is still a locked number in the speed dial list for voice mail and no browser settings.
