Odd....it was working last night.

Here is an alternate download site while Tom gets the bugs worked out of the attachment issues:

I'm trying to remove the IT policy from a former corporate Bold 9700 running latest OS 5.0.0.979 so I can connect to regular email not just exchange server.

JL_Cmder 1.9.3 installs well under Windows 7 and the "reset to factory" command (5) appears to work and BB goes thro' its cycle but the "locking" to exchange server mode just won't go away. Also tried full wipe and reinstall OS but no joy.

What am I missing? BB appears to respond to commands from JL_Cmder as expected. I'm not running Desktop Manager in the background, I'm not doing a restore from backup after the reset, I'm not taking the battery out or dicking around with safe mode.

Has anyone had results with a Bold 9700 and the latest OS? Have RIM found and stopped the loophole?

Any help gratefully received.

First, its not a "loophole". Its a feature. This is the way they meant it to work.

Do you have a sim card inserted with a BB data plan on your wireless service account?

John, thank you for stepping in.

Yes I have a UK Vodafone "pay-as-you-go" SIM which has been enabled for their free data service offer inserted throughout the process. The phone is locked to UK Vodafone and I'm not trying to change that. I haven't tried this without the SIM inserted.

The odd thing is that the phone seems to respond to the JL_Cmder exactly as expected. The menu option "enterprise activation" is NOT enabled but in the relevant menu I still can't get the option to connect to my POP3 mail service - only an option to select an enterprise mail server.

The phone works fine with the stated SIM on phone and text. Maybe it's a SIM/service problem?

Again, any assistance gratefully received.

Andrew

You need a specifice "BlackBerry" data plan. Without that you will never get any email on the device. I'm guessing your pay as you go plan is not a BB data plan. That would be the problem.

sys w7 64b

Javaloader.exe does not run in admin mod (even in xp sp3 compatibility) the dos windows opens a few commands line run and the windows closes

if i run jl_commander it works but device info opens an empty notepad.... and screenshots opens my documents but no screenshot there.... but neither wipe or factory reset work after the red screen and typing blackberry it just goes back to the Blackberry screen with the option nothing happens on the device

deleted choice was not enough, had to put both javaloader.exe and jl_cmder.cmd in xp mode SP2 (not sp3) and now it seems to work.... had some activity and now 507 on the bb screen

Trying to unlock myBold 9000 from corporate IT policy. I am running the JL CMDR as "an administrator" from my Vista laptop. I have a good usb cable connection.

I get the red screen after I select #5 "reset to factory".

After I type "blackberry" it just goes back to the screen shot...nothing happens...

I literally just "Reset to Factory" my Bold 9000 that had a corporate IT policy on it. Had the same problem till I realized that Desktop Manager should be running to establish connection to the phone... duh!

Anyways, here's what I did:

1) Unplug the USB cable.
2) Plug it back in.
3) Launch Desktop Manager (if Windows didn't already auto-launch it)
4) Double-click "JL_Cmder" (C:\Program Files\JL_Cmder) - The "Windows Command Script" one.
5) Follow the on-screen instructions to Reset to Factory Settings.

3-4 minutes later, I've got a wiped and reset phone. OS still running. Ready to ship to my buyer.

Best of luck!

P.S. Thank you Mr. Fisher!
