hello you guys! Thanks for the great post and how to free up memories that are more useful. I am trying to save my PIN# into another folder, but found 2 items: pin#.CFG or only the pin#. Which do I copy to? and what does the CFG stand for at the end of the pin #? thanks
I am not sure if anyone have read this, but I have waited 2 weeks and no one response. Please help?

Hello! I have gotten to step 4: add all themes and got stuck!!! I can't open the file: blackberry.alx in the folder of "8310-v4.2.2.170-p2.5.030." It says Window can't open this file: file: blackberry.alx to open this file, windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it. thanks for help!!!!!!!

In the folder go up to "Tools" and select "Folder Options" then "File Types." Scroll down to "alx" and change the "opens with" program for alx to Notepad.

Sorry, I just noticed your question was about the blackberry.alx file. You need to change the file type for .alx (not xml--my bad)

You don't want to delete the Blackberry.alx

In Vista you'll need to save it to another location like the desktop. Then copy the file back to the original location. The wonders of Windows Vista.

Nobody has any ideas how to get BB Maps to work with AT&T and 4.5 OS??? I can send someone the files if they don't have them and would like to look at it to figure out what is needed to be changed.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with this

AUtigers, in many cases, you are required by ATT to have a Service Book pushed from them for BBMaps to operate.

I dont know why I'm having a hard time with this. I have an AT&T Pearl 8120 and I went to the BB site to download the OS. So I click the arrow and it brings up all the programs in the drop down box. I downloaded the BB 8120 (TM) under PTT EMR Patch. Is that the correct one or am I overlooking it? So I downloaded that and went into the apploader folder and its a Set up icon with nothing to do with OS. Anyone have directions for idiots?? What am I doing wrong, besides everything?!

You should be downloading the Handheld Device Software (OS) for your 8120--not a PTT EMR Patch.

Thumbs up Thank you!

I was having some trouble with my SMS messaging having a SERIOUS delay while I was entering text. I was searching through forums and I found this and thought I'd read just out of curiosity. Your instructions for getting the ATT theme off, adding BB maps, and eliminating PTT and VAD were fabulous!!! After following the steps, not worrying about messing up my phone because of the way you explained everything, I can happily say that I feel like I have a new phone again! I had started getting errors about not having enough memory for the camera even though nothing was running, and my battery was dying in hours...I even thought it was just the battery and bought a new one. Now everything is running at lightning speed and I have 35MB of memory available!!! Thank you so much!!!
