Hey guys,

I've updated the site quite a bit. The layout has been completely redone and I think that I like it a lot. Also, version 0.3 of the Blackberry Tracker Client is out. The main new feature is geotagging. In the Blackberry Tracker Client you just hit the menu button and select "Tag this location". Give it a name and the GPS coordinates and tag name are sent back to the server.

There should be lots of cool stuff with tagging coming soon.

That's great news. Are you planning on implementing a GeoFence so we could get alerts via email or some sort? Just curious.

That's on my todo list. I'll work on getting it up this week.

XOClipse, whenever I open the program, could you set the default to the login button. Currently, it's defaulted to the username. It would be nice if it's defaulted to the login button if the remember box is checked. I'm sure you have a lot of to do list.

I tried the GeoTagging, it's nice implementation. I'm always mobile, so I checked your site via my blackberry and it seems like it's more mobile friendly. Good job overall.

Can't wait for the implementation of GeoFencing, so I can stop using Track My Journey or Accutracking.

Here's a list that would be nice for future Blackberry Tracker; maybe it's already in your list:

1. Display Speed in Imperial or Metrics
2. Dots on the map to show the last updated track that was sent to the server
3. GeoFencing
4. Speed Alert

Thats where it usually sits. It looks like its not picking up on the GPS though if its not receiving coordinates. Did it ask you give the application permission to access your location? Internal GPS or Puck?

RickyG:

It sounds like its having problems connecting. Any more detail to the error. What phone/carrier etc,.?

Another question for everyone here:

How many people use pucks and would like to use BBTracker but their puck doesn't work with it? If enough people are out there I'll work on writing support for pucks.

Does this work with the 8703e? Or just Blackberys with GPS receivers inside? And if it does work with any Blackberry, how does it get the coordinates? Sorry, not understanding it.

Sometimes it might get logged off and thus, the tracking would become useless. There should be a feature that we can select that would enable the program to automatically connect whenever possible, that way, if someone steals your BB and pulls the battery out and then pops it back in, the tracker will still load up in the background

You can reset your account password and retrieve your username here:

I'll work on adding a "Login automatically.." feature to the next version of BBTracker client. If it isn't able to send a coordinate because you are on the phone or there is no data service, the next coordinate it sends shouldn't be impacted(unless you still have no service). I will be adding a feature that will save coordinates that can't be sent and send them later for more accuracy. As far as having it run when you turn it on, that may be coming soon too. I may need to get my code signed by RIM before this can occur.

It should work fine for the 8703e. Just look at which version of the OS you are running so you know which version to download. I think the 8703e has 4.1 on it(Sprint version at least). I believe it also has internal GPS, so no GPS puck should be necessary. Some GPS pucks do work, there is a list here: GPS_Puck_Compatibility Blackberry Tracker Trac
The application works by transmitting your GPS coordinates to a server which then stores it in a database. The site lets you view all this information(GPS location).

Yes only certain pucks right now. I might add compatibility for other pucks I'm just waiting to see the demand for it.

My Blackberry has GPS? WTF? I'm going to try this for sure....and just in case I don't find the details on the site, what are the charges for this? Is there any data transaction through the network?

Has anyone been able to install the application using the Application Loader in Desktop Manager? I downloaded the .jad file and tried but it doesn't recognize the file type. Is there a different file I have to download for this?

Okay so I've been doing some research on how to install midlets on the Blackberry and could only get so far.
- I downloaded the RIM JDE and the Sun SDK
- I tried to use rapc to create the .cod file from the .jad and .jar files but the download site for this application only shows a .jad file. So how do you create the .cod file if there's no available .jar file to use in the midlet?

Am I going about this completely the wrong way?

Hmmmm........I was told by the author I could just download it to my computer and load it with Application Loader. Maybe I misunderstood. Does anyone know if another file is available to download it to my machine first? I'm roaming and data is $10 per megabyte right now.
