Default Insurance yes or no

Hi, I am still new here but I got my 8700g in October with Tmobile. Question is should I have taken out insurance on it? Is it worth it? Can you start it anytime or does it have to start the day you bought your phone.

welcome

Depends on what type of person you are, if you tend to use the phone as a screwdriver.. you should prolly have taken insurrance ;p

Normaly I would say that insurrance is just another way for the carriers to earn more money.. but its great if the phone gets stolen or you drop it and it breaks..

Remember you still got warranty on the phone, so any errors that come up during that time will be taken care of by that

Enjoy you stay btw

the insurance for me is $5 a month, and a replacement phone when not able to upgrade is several hundred dollars. i keep it on my gf's phone (second on the account) but not on my phone. I am able to upgrade pretty much whenever I want through the discount on my account. Its really what you want to do, insurance is fairly cheap (at least usually) so it may not be abad idea.

I used to keep insurance on my Nextels only because I was rough on them and the insurance was 2.99 a month. For the BB I take a little more care with them.

Remember there is a deductable on it. Tmobile is $6 a month for insurence and $110 deductable on BBs. Since Oct. you would have spent $24 plus $110 deduct. If you loose it today your total is $134 for a new one and I just picked up a new 8700g on ebay for $154 so you decide if its really worth it...

I have insurance on my Curve. Really, the higher the value of the handset, the more it makes sense dollar wise, if you factor the monthly and the deductable. I'm not sure I would insure a low-end Nokia or Motorola, because in the long run it would be cheaper to replace a handset like that by buying a new one.

Lightbulb Re: Insurance

This discussion proves once again the superiority of Verizon. $5 per month $50 deductible. My wife drove over her phone: overnight replacement. My old 7250 crapped out: overnight replacement. My 8703e died of mysterious causes: overnight replacement. When the cost of a replacement is a couple of hundred bucks, not counting the inconvenience, why should this even be a question. Well I guess if you have to pay a lot more than Verizon charges, it is a possible consideration. No, I do not own Verizon stock. I do not even particularly like them, but their service and support are great and their coverage is the best around. Also, in my case, it is a business deduction. . 73
