Default How to type on 8830

Please Login to Remove!

Odd question, I'm sure....

I am finding that I am using finger nails to type on the small keys. I don't think this will be healthy in the long run for my keyboard. Less so for the Otterbox membrane that I just applied with the new case.

Do most folks use thumbs, more fingers, just the tips of fingers?

I've read about, is it SMART TYPE, is that available for the 8830? Any software like it? I had a similar program on my HP200 palmtop and it aided typing.

Thanks in advance

Thumbs all the way. Don't have to worry typing with your nails either.

Heh, I'm weird I guess. I use my left thumb and right forefinger to type efficiently. It's the most comfortable for me.

I have scratched some of the color off a few buttons by using my nails so I would be careful.

Not weird at all. Ditto here with left thumb and right forefinger. Work like a charm. I'm certain double thumbers are odd. :>)

My "guy" nails are not long but trying to use the tips of my fingers and not hit between (multiple) keys. I guess the idea is to hit the raised ridge. I will work on my technique.

The 8830 keyboard is so stiff, it's almost a little more forgiving when I fatfinger and mash more than one key. As long as most of the pressure is concentrated on the key I wish to hit, it's not really a problem. I've tried the Pearl and the keys are softer so I'm actually less accurate. All thumbs here, too.
