I have access to an UNLOCKED Blackberry 7130C. I plan on travelling to several different countries over the next couple of years or so. I would like to use the 7130c as a phone (utilizing local SIM cards) and use the PDA functions, but I plan to use my laptop for email and web access with no desire, at this time, to connect to the Blackberry data network with this phone. Is it possible to use the phone and PDA functions of the 7130c without subscribing to the Blackberry network? Thanks for your help.
Yup, like dc/dc says, you'll just get voice. Maybe text messages, maybe not. Depends on the carrier and plan. But without a data plan, as long as you're using a pre-paid SIM card you don't have to worry about a bill for data usage.
