Absolutely positively 100% depends on your provider and where they have their towers in your city.
In my area:
T-Mobile - Great in the city and somewhat remote areas (what I have since I stay in the city 90% of the time, plus cheap)
AT&T aka Cing - Best GSM coverage, slightly farther out of the city, has more towers on rural highways and areas my t-mo loses reception
Verizon - No experience
Sprint/Nextel - Hands down best coverage. My dads business phone can go ANYWHERE even WAY out in the sticks, not sure if his industrial strength phone (seriously someone drove over one with a pickup truck and it still worked) just has great reception or sprint got there shit right in Washington. I think I've seen 1 time it lost signal which was MILES away from paved road in the foothills of a mountain range.
