POP3. And you are on your own (no support from me). Pony up for BES monthly service, and I'll buy you a CAL and help you out.

Why? We've standardized on BlackBerry with BES as a company standard. It's far too time consuming to support a multitude of PDAs if there's no solid business justifaction for a non-BB/BES.

footnote, we have some BIS users at international locations that are set up with GMail accounts (PUSH) and BIS, so that there email communications are unmonitorable by IT, by design. I'll let the legal counsel have the final say on that one, since the inquiry to set this up came from them.

We disallow BIS entirely, and use only BES.
All devices are required to have OS 4.2.x or higher.
We block BIS messages via IT policy.

We're a public company and must comply with certain "rules". No personal email on a company owned device. For us, the BlackBerry is a business tool only.

I allow BIS. If my users want their personal mail on their BB, that is fine with me. I do inform them that they are placing their personal mail in the IT dept's custody though, so buyer beware, so to speak.

As for the other way around, we block the ability (via technology and policy) for our users to get company e-mail onto personal devices. We have HIPAA to contend with.
