BB 8707g - unlocked - need help *urgently* please
Please Login to Remove!
Hey guys, I am here as a matter of urgency, and appealing to you BB-heads for help, as my other thread on crackberry forums, seems to have been totally ignored for 5 days (I thought that their forum was, apparently, "the best").
I have an 8707g which is ex-three Australia, and was given to me by a friend, unlocked, and I currently am using it on O2 (UK). I want to ask a simple question, and am hoping for a concise & simple answer:
If I purchase a BlackBerry package from my carrier (O2 UK, prepay), will I be able to use BB services immediately, or is there other red tape to wade through?.
I appreciate any help - this is rather urgent!
Thanks for your time :D

In theory, imeddiately (/however long it takes for O2 to activate everything).
If the PIN of the BB is still registered with a BIS account, it cannot be registered for a BIS account on O2 = no data.

I thought the de-registering of the PIN from another SIM/carrier was automatic now, upon detection of a new SIM in the BB?. This is what I gather from Google...

No.
If the PIN is still registered with another account, you simply won't be able to get it to activate on your BIS.

This is the message i receive, when I visit:
https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html
Also, I have done:
OPTIONS >> ADVANCED >> HOST ROUTING TABLE >> REGISTER NOW
It says something about "Registration message sent", but then nothing else happens. I am still waiting for my BB package to be added, could this hold it up?.
I am SOOOO confused - would someone be so kind as to explain what all this nonsense means, to me, as I don't understand what to do, in which order :(.
Thanks :D

1. you need to go to the carrier specific BIS site, not the generic. i.e. here: https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html?brand=o2mailuk
2. Yes, you cannot register on BIS until your BB data plan is activated on your SIM card.

So, I take it the message I screen-shotted for you is saying that I cannot yet register UNTIL the package is added?.
Thanks again .

Yes. Once the data package is activated, you will get a "your device has been registered on the wireless network".
At which point, go to the link and create an account.
If the PIN is released, you'll be able to setup no problem.
If there's an error message, the PIN is still registered with a different account and the previous owner will need to talk to their original carrier about it.

What a faff about!. Is this technology *attempting* to make life "simpler"? If so, it is failing, BADLY.
Thanks.
