Hi. I've got a BES Enterprise Server 4.1.4 and Microsoft SQL Base on the same machine. It's running under SBS2003 and it's a version for Exchange.
I can't go to mds configuration. I've read about 3 steps recommended for BB (Certificates, Proxy, ...) and it doesn't help for my situation.
When i'm trying to go in to mds throught BBManager i'm asking about Login and Pass. I'm sure that what i'm writing there is correct. The same situation is when i'm trying to go into mds by https.
I can add that in services i'm worried about:
- BB Instant Messaging Connector - i can't run it service,
- BB MDS Services - Apache Tomcat Service - after 2 seconds from running it's stops.
Do you have any ideas to resolve my problem?
Tomcat is running for me indyvidually (startup.bat). After logging it's something this in log file:
[ERROR][2008-02-21 09:54:12,847][[Catalina]]Exception performing authentication
org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Login failed for user 'admin'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.)

Reason: Additonal information about problem
Thank You bI0rb for answer, but it doesn't help.
Port's numbers are the same (1433), and login and pass is correct and the same. Do you have any ideas?
Not sure if you know or not but the MDS Apache Tomcat service is not needed for web browsing. That service is only needed if you plan to create and publish BB apps developed by your company.
The MDS Connection Service is for web browsing.
What happens when you try to run the instant message connector? Any errors pop up? Any errors in the Event Viewer?
If you are getting prompted for a login and password when you click on the MDSS URL in the BB Manager it is the login and pass you picked during the install of the MDS Service.
If you don't need the service and you have no active users just clean uninstall and reinstall the BES. Might be easier on ya. You mght want to think about moving your BES to another machine as well. BES/DC/Exchange/MSDE on one machine is never a good combo.
Turn on Mixed Mode Authentication after you install MSDE
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
By default, the value of the LoginMode Windows registry subkey is set to 1 for Windows Authentication. To turn on Mixed Mode authentication after you install MSDE, you must change this value to 2. The location of the LoginMode subkey depends on whether you installed MSDE as the default MSDE instance or as a named instance.xxx8226; If you installed MSDE as the default instance, the LoginMode subkey is located in the following registry subkey:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSqlserver\MSSqlServer\Lo ginMode
xxx8226; If you installed MSDE as a named instance, the LoginMode subkey is located in the following registry subkey:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Name \MSSQLServer\LoginMode
To change the value of LoginMode to 2, follow these steps:1. In Control Panel, open the Services tool, and then stop MSSQLSERVER and all other related services (such as SQLSERVERAgent).
2. On the Start menu, click Run, type regedt32, and then click OK to start Registry Editor.
3. Locate either of the following subkeys (depending on whether you installed MSDE as the default MSDE instance or as a named instance): xxx8226; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSqlserver\ MSSqlServer\
4. In the right pane, double-click the LoginMode subkey.
5. In the DWORD Editor dialog box, set the value of this subkey to 2, verify that the Hex option is selected, and then click OK.
6. Restart the MSSQLSERVER service and the SQLSERVERAgent service for this change to take effect.
When i'm trying to run the instant message connector it's a popup: It's impossible to run BBIMC on local computer. Error: 1075 - dependence service isn't exsist or will be deleted.
In event viewer i've got a notification that BlackBerry Instant Messaging Connector service depends on MSMQ service, which isn't exist.
When i'm getting prompted for a login and password and click on the MDSS URL in the BB Manager there is no login and pass.
Actually i've got only this machine available.
Login mode is mixed - the value is set to 2. I don't have change it.
You need the MSMQ service installed to use the Instant Message Connector, it's a necessary component.
Again, if you don't need the Instant Message service or MDSS service and you have no active users then clean uninstall the BES and reinstall or just disable those services and forget about them.
Information from the BES log after logging to MDS through BB Manager.
